The digital transformation of higher education has taken on unprecedented importance, particularly since the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced academic institutions worldwide to urgently adopt virtual and hybrid teaching models. This situation has accelerated technological and pedagogical innovation processes that, in normal times, would have taken years to implement. This review article aims to analyze the main trends, opportunities, and challenges facing universities in the post-pandemic context, with a focus on the integration of emerging technologies and the evolution of pedagogical practices. In particular, it explores the contributions of tools such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, adaptive learning, and learning analytics systems, which are redefining not only our teaching and learning methods, but also assessment and feedback processes. It also examines the evolving role of the teaching staff, which now requires new digital skills and a more flexible attitude towards innovation. The study also addresses persistent issues such as the digital divide, equitable access to technological resources, and the need to establish inclusive, sustainable, and student-centered institutional policies. Through a systematic review of recent research, this article offers a critical and up-to-date overview of the educational landscape, proposing avenues for both strategic decision-making and the design of future research in the field of digital higher education
