ETHICS POLICY

Ethics Statement and Responsible Publishing Practices

Intellectual Network Revista Internacional is firmly committed to upholding the highest ethical standards throughout every stage of the editorial process. To ensure the integrity of its publications, the journal adheres to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Code of Conduct and the guidelines established by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), promoting ethical practices in manuscript preparation, peer review, and publication. The key ethical principles are outlined below. For more detailed information, we recommend consulting the official COPE and ICMJE documents.

Editorial Board Responsibilities

Objective Evaluation and Editorial Independence

Manuscripts are assessed solely on their scholarly merit, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s scope. Personal characteristics such as race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or institutional affiliation of the authors will not influence editorial decisions. All decisions are made independently and without external interference—including from governmental or institutional entities—and are the sole responsibility of the Editor-in-Chief.

Confidentiality

All information related to submitted manuscripts is handled with strict confidentiality. Access is limited to the corresponding author, peer reviewers, and editorial staff directly involved in the editorial process.

Conflicts of Interest and Disclosure

The use of unpublished material from submitted manuscripts for personal or financial gain is strictly prohibited without the explicit, written consent of the authors. If an editor has a conflict of interest with any of the authors, institutions, or funding bodies involved, they must recuse themselves from the review process and delegate the responsibility to another qualified member of the editorial team.

Commitment to Scientific Ethics

All research published in Intellectual Network Revista Internacional must comply with the ethical standards applicable in the country or region where the study was conducted. It is the authors' responsibility to obtain and document the necessary approvals prior to conducting the research.

If manuscripts include images of individuals, their identity and privacy must be protected. The journal adheres to the ICMJE recommendations on the preparation, editing, and publication of scholarly articles, as detailed in the ICMJE Recommendations document.

Research Involving Humans and Animals

Studies involving human or animal subjects must conform to the ethical principles outlined in the Declaration of Helsinki, available in both English and Spanish.

Authors must obtain informed consent from all participants and explicitly state this in the manuscript.

Randomized clinical trials must be approved by a Research Ethics Committee (or its local equivalent), disclose their funding sources, and be registered in a publicly accessible clinical trial database such as ClinicalTrials.gov.

Conflict of Interest Disclosure

All authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence the research process, data interpretation, or publication outcomes. If no conflicts exist, this must be clearly stated in the manuscript with the following statement:

“Conflicts of interest: none.”

If a conflict of interest exists, it must be fully disclosed in the appropriate section of the manuscript, along with a Conflict of Interest Statement using the ICMJE’s recommended form, available on their official website. The information provided must be consistent with what appears in the manuscript.

Further guidance can be found in section II-B-2 of the ICMJE Recommendations.

Funding Disclosure

Authors must disclose all financial support received for the research and/or manuscript preparation, indicating the funders’ role in study design, data collection and analysis, manuscript writing, and the decision to submit the article for publication.

If no funding was received, this should be clearly stated in the appropriate section of the manuscript.
