Abstract

The purpose of this study was to prepare cookies for adult dogs using meat by-products such as chicken bones and porcine blood as alternative raw materials6. These ingredients, normally considered agroindustrial waste, have a high nutritional value, and their use represents an effective strategy for reducing the environmental impact generated by the meat industry. The research was carried out using an experimental approach, in which different formulations were prepared combining chicken bone meal and porcine blood meal in different proportions. Physical-chemical parameters (protein, moisture, ash, pH) and sensory parameters (acceptance by canines) were evaluated in order to determine the best possible combination. T2 showed a notable increase in the protein content of the cookies, reaching a value of 31.71 %; in addition, it was the treatment most accepted by the dogs, showing a greater interest and level of consumption compared to the others. In terms of quality control, the main causes of the environmental impact of these wastes were identified, reaffirming the importance of their reuse. This project not only contributes to the development of an alternative food, but also promotes environmentally friendly practices in the food industry. In conclusion, the formulation of dog cookies with meat by-products is a nutritious, innovative and environmentally friendly alternative
