Integration of Digital Technologies in Higher Education Post-Pandemic: Advances, Challenges, and Future Perspectives
Keywords:
Higher education, digital technologies, post-pandemic, hybrid learning, educational transformationAbstract
The COVID-19 pandemic triggered a radical transformation in higher education, accelerating the adoption of digital technologies as a strategy for educational continuity. This literature review article explores the evolution of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) use in university settings after the pandemic, analyzing current advances, ongoing challenges, and future projections. Based on a comprehensive review of recent academic literature and indexed studies, the paper identifies significant changes in how teaching practices are structured, how educational interactions are developed, and how teaching-learning processes are managed. Although the initial shift to online education was reactive, many institutions have since adopted hybrid learning models as sustainable long-term strategies. The review also recognizes the urgent need to strengthen faculty digital competencies and reduce the technological access gap that affects vulnerable sectors. Furthermore, it emphasizes the importance of rethinking educational assessment from more flexible, formative, and student-centered approaches. The conclusions highlight that digital transformation in higher education must be accompanied by strategic institutional policies, continuous professional development, and innovative pedagogical vision. Finally, this article proposes several recommendations to consolidate progress and ensure inclusive, high-quality education adapted to the demands of the digital age
