Smart electric grids: analysis of the impact on efficient energy distribution
Keywords:
Smart grids, energy efficiency, electric distribution, digitalization, sustainabilityAbstract
Smart electric grids represent a crucial innovation in the energy distribution system. This review article aims to analyze the impact of these grids on the efficiency of electricity distribution. Based on a compilation of recent scientific studies indexed in Scopus, SciELO, and Latindex, the technological evolution, operational benefits, technical and social challenges, and regulatory implications of their implementation are examined. The theoretical and documentary review identified trends such as the integration of renewable energy sources, infrastructure digitalization, reduction of technical losses, and consumer empowerment. In addition, cybersecurity, specific regulatory needs, and professional training were analyzed as determining factors in the success of smart grids. It is concluded that the effective deployment of these technologies requires a comprehensive approach that integrates technological advances, public policy, citizen participation, and technical education. This article seeks to contribute to academic debate and strategic decision-making for sustainable energy development
